Potato Casserole with Ham

Ingredients for the recipe:

  • 4 tbsp. l (60 g) butter, plus some more for lubrication forms
  • 1/2 diced yellow onion
  • 1/3 Art. wheat flour
  • 1.5 tbsp. drinking cream (10% fat)
  • 1.5 tbsp. milk
  • Freshly ground black pepper
  • 900 g of thoroughly washed potatoes
  • 3 tbsp. diced ham
  • 2 tbsp. grated cheese
  • Sliced fresh parsley for decoration (optional)

Recipe preparation:

  1. Preheat the oven to 190C.
  2. Put butter and onions in a large frying pan and place to medium heat. Stew until onion begins to soften, 3-4 min. Sprinkle the onion with flour and mix. Keep frying the onion mixture and flour until golden brown, about 2 minutes. Pour in cream, milk and mix, let the mixture thicken: it will take 3-4 minutes. Add a little pepper, mix the sauce, reduce heat and keep in warmer.
  3. Use a vegetable slicer or a very sharp knife to chop the potatoes circles as thin as possible. Lubricate the mold liberally with butter. for 2 l baking, put half the chopped potatoes and half sliced ham. Sprinkle with half the cheese and pour pan sauce. Repeat the same with the remaining ingredients, ending with a layer of cheese and sauce. Sprinkle on top pepper.
  4. Cover the pan with foil and bake for 40 minutes, then remove bake foil and until the cheese is lightly browned and the sauce boils, still 20-30 minutes Sprinkle the dish with chopped parsley and serve.
