Oven baked spaghetti

This “hybrid” of lasagna and spaghetti with tomato sauce is perfect in as a warming dinner. Ingredients for the recipe:

  • 700 gr. ground beef
  • 1 large onion, cut into cubes (about 2 tbsp.)
  • 1 red bell pepper, remove seeds and core, cut into cubes (about 1 tbsp.)
  • 4 garlic cloves, finely chopped
  • 1 can (800 gr.) Mashed tomatoes
  • 1 can (400 gr.) Sliced tomatoes in their own juice
  • 2 tsp Sahara
  • 1/4 tsp dried oregano
  • 250 gr thin spaghetti
  • 230 gr. hot cheddar, grate (about 2 tbsp.)
  • 1/4 Art. parsley leaves, finely chopped

Recipe preparation:

  1. Boil a large pot of salted water.
  2. Heat a second large saucepan over moderate heat. Add the minced meat, 1/2 tsp. salt and a pinch of pepper, cook about 4 minutes until rosy, stirring to break the lumps. Add onion, bell pepper, garlic and a large pinch of salt and pepper. Cook, stirring occasionally, for about 10 minutes. before softness.
  3. Stir in mashed and chopped tomatoes, sugar and oregano, bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer with low boiling about 30 min., stirring occasionally until the mass thickens.
  4. Meanwhile, boil the spaghetti for 2 minutes. less than indicated on the package. Drain the water. Preheat the oven to 180 ° C.
  5. Place 1/3 on the bottom of the baking dish (33 x 22 x 5 cm) sauce. Add half spaghetti and a third of cheese; repeat for second layer and add the rest of the sauce; remaining cheddar so far set aside.
