  • 4 small Hawaiian sweet buns
  • 1 small red or orange bell pepper, chopped in large pieces
  • 1 tbsp. l vegetable oil and a little more for lubrication
  • 3/4 Art. ketchup
  • 3 tbsp. l soy sauce or teriyaki sauce
  • 3 tbsp. l cider vinegar
  • 1.5 tbsp. l honey
  • Coarse salt and freshly ground pepper

Recipe preparation:

  1. Preheat the oven with grill. 8 long wooden skewers soak in water for 15 minutes. Cover the baking sheet with foil and lightly grease with vegetable oil.
  2. Meanwhile, in a medium bowl, mix ketchup, soy sauce, vinegar and honey. Pour half the sauce into a separate bowl and set aside to the side. In a large bowl, combine chicken, water chestnut, pineapple, bell pepper and 1 tbsp. l vegetable oil, add 1/2 tsp. salt and a pinch of pepper. Paste the ingredients onto the skewers alternating them among themselves. Put the skewers on prepared a baking sheet.
  3. Lubricate the skewers with a little sauce left and bake under the grill for 4 minutes until a brown crust is formed, turn over, grease with sauce and continue baking for another 3 minutes until golden brown and fully prepared. Serve with the rest sauce and rolls.
