I’m sure that only the fact of a herring drenched in milk will cause a storm of your emotions. In fact, Forshmak is a Jewish classic the kitchen. Each Jewish family has its own characteristics in cooking this appetizer home: someone soaks herring in milk, someone in tea, someone puts white bread, and someone mashed potatoes. In any case, it is really delicious.

  1. Herring to peel. Pour in herring fillet with milk and leave on 3 hours.
  2. Peel and boil the potatoes, mash with a fork and make mashed potatoes mixed with milk.
  3. In general, there are 2 options for preparing the forshmak: cut everything Super finely or grind in a meat grinder / blender. I love texture paste, so I use the second option. In a blender in turn pray: herring (remove from milk and dry), onion, peeled apple, egg whites, a mixture of egg yolks, butter and mustard.
  4. Add mashed potatoes. Mix.
  5. Sent for several hours in the refrigerator. Serve with black with bread.
