Recipe preparation:

  1. In a medium-sized saucepan over medium heat, melt butter. Add onions and fry, stirring, until soft and light golden color, about 6 minutes. Add barley and mix to coat all grains with oil. Add broth and 0.5 tsp salt and bring to a boil. Turn down the heat to moderately weak, cover and cook for 20 minutes.
