Orange granite

Recipe preparation:

  1. Wash the oranges. Cut 1/4 of the oranges from the top and cut a small piece from the bottom so that they stand evenly.
  2. Use a grapefruit knife to cut the flesh from oranges and put it in a sieve installed above the bowl. Be careful, so as not to cut through the bottom of the orange. Arrange the oranges on a baking sheet put in the freezer and freeze until they become solid.
  3. Rub the pulp of oranges through a sieve to extract all the juice. You should get about 1.5 to 1 and 3/4 tbsp. orange juice. Add an additional 4 tbsp. orange juice. Mix sugar in a tablespoon at a time until the mixture becomes sweet to your liking. Add basil and orange liquor and let it brew for 15 minutes.
  4. Strain the mixture in a pan or in a baking dish. Dish should be large enough so that the liquid is not deep more than 2.5 cm. Put in the freezer for at least 1 hour. Remove from the freezer and scrape with 2 forks to loosen ice. Return to the freezer and leave to harden for about another for 2-3 hours, scraping forks about every hour.
  5. When the granite hardens, lay it in bowls of orange crust and serve immediately.
