Ingredients for the recipe:

  • 1/2 tbsp. Sahara
  • 4 apples of different grades
  • 1 tbsp. l freshly squeezed lemon juice
  • 1/4 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1 beaten egg
  • 1.5 tbsp. and 1 tbsp. a spoonful of wheat flour, and a little more for sprinkles
  • 5 tbsp. tablespoons cold unsalted butter, chopped pieces
  • Maple syrup

Recipe preparation:

  1. Cook the cake: in a large skillet over medium heat fry the bacon for 6 minutes until crisp, occasionally turning over. Put on paper towels. Into a small bowl pour 1 tbsp. l melted fat and cool in the refrigerator for 15 minutes.
  2. Grind 2 slices of fried thoroughly in a food processor bacon. Add 1.5 tbsp. flour and 2 tbsp. l sugar and mix. Add the cold fat left after frying the bacon again mix. Add the butter and mix in such a way so that the mixture looks like wholemeal with pieces in size with a pea. Pour in 4 tbsp. l ice water and knead the dough to it has become homogeneous. Put the dough on a plastic wrap, form into the ball. Wrap the dough in plastic wrap and refrigerate for 1 hour.
  3. Cover the baking sheet with parchment paper. Put the dough between with two layers of flour parchment sheets and roll into circle with a diameter of 33 cm. Remove the top sheet of parchment, turn over the dough on the prepared pan, remove the bottom sheet. Keep the dough in the refrigerator until you need it.
  4. Preheat the oven to 190 degrees.
  5. Prepare the filling: peel the apples and cut into slices 0.5 cm thick. Put in a large bowl and mix with lemon juice, cinnamon, 3 tbsp. l sugar and remaining 1 tbsp. l flour. Put the apple filling in the center of the dough, leaving edges of 5 cm. Raise the edges of the dough over the filling, while doing clamps. Cut the remaining bacon into small pieces and sprinkle with it stuffing.
  6. Smear the edges of the dough with an egg and sprinkle with the remaining 3 tbsp. l Sahara. Bake the cake in a preheated oven for 50 minutes, until the crust turns golden brown and the apples soft. (If the filling starts to burn, loosely cover it with foil). Remove the pie from the oven and grease the filling with maple syrup while it is still hot. Cool slightly before serving.
