Among Greek dishes whose popularity has spread far beyond the Balkans, the most delicious stand out multilayer casserole called moussaka.
This is an ideal dish for cooking in the summer, because in it basis – vegetables that can easily be found in the beds of Russian vegetable gardens: eggplant, potatoes, onions, carrots, tomatoes. What if buy these foods when at the Bill supermarket stocks, you can cook up delicious and low-calorie lunch, which will cost a penny. Traditional version of moussaki is done with lamb, but modern housewives also experimenting with other types of meat and poultry, and some and do not put this ingredient in a casserole, making it completely vegetarian. To prepare the basis for light musaki, you need to take a couple small eggplant, 1 carrot, 4 onions, 2 peppers (preferably Bulgarian), greens (parsley or dill – to whom more like), 3 potatoes, 5 large tomatoes of any kind. Eggplant and potatoes are usually pre-fried (although this is not necessary), after which they are sequentially spread with other vegetables in a baking dish. Usually below is a layer of potatoes, then a layer of blue, pepper, tomatoes. Alternate everything with salt, spices, onions, herbs.
Additionally, the dish is poured with sauce. It is done in different ways: with grated cheese, egg and milk, with yolks, yogurt and ground nutmeg or simply with mayonnaise. Next, the dish is sent to the oven.
How to bake musaka
In order for all the ingredients of the moussaki to bake well, you need to put form with vegetables and sauce in already warmed up to 180-200 degrees oven. The baking time is about half an hour. You can navigate by browning the sides and top of the delicacy. AT as an alternative, you can bring the dish to readiness in slow cooker or pressure cooker. The result in all cases will be equally tasty.
