Delicious and invigorating apple cider you can cook yourself at home and enjoy it year-round, chilled in summer, and in winter – warmed up. Cooking cider is better based on several varieties of apples, sour and sweet, so that the taste of the drink is more complete and bright pronounced. And to better emphasize it, add to apples some oranges, cinnamon and cloves. Spices can be added as whole and ground. Whole cinnamon sticks and cloves put in a gauze bag so that you do not have to catch them later all over the pan. Cook cider in a pan or in a slow cooker, strain, add sugar to taste and enjoy. - 10-12 medium apples of different varieties, for example, Honey Crisp, Gala, Rome, Granny Smith
- 2 medium oranges, peeled and sliced
- 4 (7 cm.) Cinnamon sticks or 2 tsp. ground cinnamon
- 1 tbsp. l whole cloves or 1.5 tbsp. l ground cloves
- 4.5 liters water
- Dark brown sugar, to taste, optional
- Optional: apple slices, orange slices, cinnamon stick

Recipe preparation:
- Apple cider on the stove: Wash apples, peel core and cut into slices. Put apples and oranges in the pan. Wrap cinnamon sticks and whole cloves in a small a piece of gauze and put in a pan or sprinkle with ground spices on top of the fruit. Add water to cover 2.5 cm fruit. above and cook over high heat for 30 minutes, stirring frequently, then reduce heat to low and simmer at low boil in within 2 hours. Add more water as needed to fruits were covered with water all the time.
- Slow cooker apple cider: Wash apples, peel from the cores and cut into slices. Put apples and oranges in slow cooker. Wrap cinnamon sticks and whole cloves in a small piece of gauze and put in a slow cooker or sprinkle ground spices on top of fruits. Add water to cover fruit 2.5 cm higher and cook under low heat for 7 hours or with strong heat for 3 hours.
- Remove the bag of spices, if you use it, from slow cookers and mash fruits with the back of a wooden spoon or using a masher for a mashed potato. Strain and the fruit use for mashed fruit or discard.
- Try the cider and add brown sugar so that it was the desired sweetness.
- Serve homemade apple cider warm or pour in container and refrigerate for up to 5 days or freeze for up to 3 months.
