In recipes volumetric containers are used in volume: 1 cup (tbsp.) – 240 ml. 3/4 cups (st.) – 180 ml. 1/2 cup (tbsp.) – 120 ml. 1/3 cup (Art.) – 80 ml. 1/4 cup (st.) – 60 ml. 1 tablespoon (tbsp) – 15 ml. 1 teaspoon (tsp) – 5 ml.
Ingredients for the recipe:
- 1/2 cup olive oil
- 2 small onions, finely chopped
- 2 garlic cloves, finely chopped
- 2 stalks of celery, finely chopped
- 2 carrots, peeled and finely chopped
- 1/2 teaspoon of sea salt
- 1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
- 1800 gr. canned mashed tomatoes
- 2 bay leaves

Recipe preparation:
- In a large saucepan, heat the oil. Add onion, garlic and fry for about 10 minutes until onion transparent. Add celery, carrots and 1/2 teaspoon of salt and pepper. Fry until vegetables are soft, about 10 minutes.
- Add mashed tomatoes, bay leaf and stew without covering cover over low heat until the sauce thickens, about 1 час.
- Remove bay leaf. Add salt and pepper to taste. The sauce can be cook the day before. Cool and store tightly closed in the fridge. Warm up before use.
