Marinara sauce

In recipes volumetric containers are used in volume: 1 cup (tbsp.) – 240 ml. 3/4 cups (st.) – 180 ml. 1/2 cup (tbsp.) – 120 ml. 1/3 cup (Art.) – 80 ml. 1/4 cup (st.) – 60 ml. 1 tablespoon (tbsp) – 15 ml. 1 teaspoon (tsp) – 5 ml.

Ingredients for the recipe:

  • 1/2 cup olive oil
  • 2 small onions, finely chopped
  • 2 garlic cloves, finely chopped
  • 2 stalks of celery, finely chopped
  • 2 carrots, peeled and finely chopped
  • 1/2 teaspoon of sea salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • 1800 gr. canned mashed tomatoes
  • 2 bay leaves

Recipe preparation:

  1. In a large saucepan, heat the oil. Add onion, garlic and fry for about 10 minutes until onion transparent. Add celery, carrots and 1/2 teaspoon of salt and pepper. Fry until vegetables are soft, about 10 minutes.
  2. Add mashed tomatoes, bay leaf and stew without covering cover over low heat until the sauce thickens, about 1 час.
  3. Remove bay leaf. Add salt and pepper to taste. The sauce can be cook the day before. Cool and store tightly closed in the fridge. Warm up before use.
