Classic marinara sauce

Difficulty: Easy Servings: 6 The recipes use measuring containers with a volume of: one cup (st.) – 240 ml. 3/4 cup (st.) – 180 ml. 1/2 cup (st.) – 120 ml 1/3 cup (st.) – 80 ml. 1/4 cup (st.) – 60 ml. 1tablespoon (tbsp.) – 15 ml. 1 teaspoon (tsp) – 5 ml.

Ingredients for the recipe:

  • Three cans (430 gr. Each) canned mashed tomato
  • 3 to 4 cloves of minced garlic
  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped
  • 1/2 tbsp. white wine (or chicken stock)
  • Salt and ground pepper
  • Pinch of sugar
  • Olive oil
  • Fresh parsley leaves
  • Fresh basil leaves

Recipe preparation:

  1. Pour a tablespoon of olive oil into a hot pan, heated to moderately high temperature, add garlic and chopped onion and fry a little.
  2. Now add the wine (or chicken stock), cook, stirring, until the fluid is reduced by half.
  3. Add chopped tomatoes and mix. Add salt and pepper to taste, and a pinch of sugar. Reduce the heat to a minimum and simmer marinara sauce for 30 minutes. Towards the end of cooking, chop fresh parsley and basil and add it to the sauce to taste, mix.
