Turkey chili in 30 minutes

In this simple recipe, beef is replaced with turkey, offering different ways of serving: with fresh cilantro greens, with chilled sour cream and grated cheese. And everyone can choose what is more to him like.

As a traditional Mexican side dish, add cilantro, sour cream, corn chips or avocado. If you want to vegetarian dish, use soy instead of turkey.

Ingredients for the recipe:

  • 3 tbsp. l extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 medium chopped onion
  • 5 chopped garlic cloves
  • 1 tsp coarse salt
  • 2 tsp chili powder
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • 1 tbsp. l tomato paste
  • 1 coarsely chopped chipotle pepper (smoked jalapeno pepper) per adobo sauce with 1 tbsp. l sauce
  • 450 g minced turkey
  • 1 bottle (350 ml) of light beer
  • 1 can (400 g) of canned whole peeled tomatoes in own juice
  • 1 can (450 g) canned red beans (drain the liquid and rinse)
  • Sliced chives, cilantro, avocado, sour cream, grated Monterey Jack cheese and / or corn chips, optional

Recipe preparation:

  1. Preheat in a large heavy skillet over medium-high heat. olive oil. Put onion, garlic, salt, chili powder and oregano and cook, stirring, until their aroma is revealed, about 3 minutes. Add beer and simmer until it is half-cooked, about 8 minutes. Add the tomatoes, kneading them with your hands, along with the juice and beans, bring to a boil. Cook without a lid, stirring occasionally, until the mixture thickens, about 10 minutes
  2. Arrange the chilli in deep plates and add a side dish over culinary advice: in a large pan, thanks a larger surface area, the sauce evaporates faster than in stew-pan.
