Spanish minced dish “Piccadillo”

Ingredients for the recipe:

  • 225 gr. ground beef (with a little fat)
  • 1/3 Art. rekayto (cilantro-based sauce, also known as Sofrito)
  • 1/2 tbsp. small spanish olives stuffed with pepper pimento
  • 2 peeled and crushed fresh cloves of garlic
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp ground black pepper
  • 3/4 Art. tomato sauce
  • 1 tbsp. l dried oregano
  • 2 tbsp. l canola or vegetable oil

Recipe preparation:

  1. For Piccadillo: In a medium-sized heavy frying pan on moderately high heat heat oil. Put the ground beef and stir 3-5 minutes until beef turns brown and pink.
  2. Add rekayto and mix. Reduce the heat to medium add garlic, salt and pepper. Put the tomato paste, oregano and olives. Stew for 10 – 15 minutes. Store in the fridge. Culinary advice: This dish may seem for someone a little salty, but combined with sweet plantans as a filling for the cake, its taste becomes excellent balanced. If you use it in another dish, you can change the amount of salt.
