Pork knuckle with sauerkraut in the oven

Fragrant and delicious pork knuckle turns out if cook at home pre-boiled with garlic, onions and then bake in the oven on a “pillow” of sauerkraut. Nice paprika will add color to the knuckle.

  1. Thoroughly wash the pork shanks, scrape the skin with a knife, to remove contamination.

  2. Put prepared shanks in a large pan, add chopped onion, garlic, bay leaf, salt, ground pepper and cook after boiling over low heat for 1 hour. Take out and a little cool.

  3. Squash the sauerkraut, mix with oil, spread on baking sheet, pour water evenly (½ cup) and sprinkle with paprika (½ tbsp). Lightly cooled shanks rub with salt, ground pepper, paprika, place on prepared cabbage and send to preheated oven at 200 degrees for 1 hour.

  4. We take out ready-made fragrant shanks with crispy skin and serve hot with baked cabbage, mustard and table horseradish.
