Donuts “Nun Sighs”

“Nun Sighs” are traditional Spanish custard donuts dough that is deep-fried. According to legend, when the nuns cooked in the kitchen, one of them made an indecent sound, and the other sisters laughed so much that one of them dropped a piece of custard dough and went straight into the boiler with boiling oil, and again this sound was heard from swelling in butter donuts. Most likely, in the Age of Rebirth they tried revive all references to the custard dough. So the recipe appeared donuts “Nun’s sighs” (Spanish: suspiro de monja) or Pe de nonn.   • 200 gr. butter
  • 400 gr. Sahara
  • 5 beaten eggs
  • 500 ml water
  • 500 gr. premium flour
  • Lemon peel
  • Olive oil
  • Powdered sugar

Recipe preparation:

  1. Pour water into a saucepan and heat. Add the butter, sugar and lemon peel. When the water boils, take out a slotted spoon peel.
  2. Pour in flour gradually, brewing it, and stirring constantly wooden spoon. After adding all the flour, cook the dough for 15 minutes or until it easily lags the walls and bottom of the pan.
  3. Remove from the stove and cool the dough. Stir constantly, add one egg each.
  4. Knead the dough and on a flat surface, roll it into volumetric layer. Dice the dough.
  5. Pour more olive oil into the pan. When is it heats up, toss dough cubes and fry until golden brown.
  6. Remove the finished donuts from the butter and place them on paper towels. Sprinkle the donuts with powdered sugar and serve.
