But if you are concerned about a huge amount of calories and fat in deep-fried onions, there is a more “healthy” alternative. Bake the rings in the oven. This method has two undeniable advantages: you don’t have to tirefully stand over the deep fat fryer, frying onions in batches, and, secondly, at the exit you get a snack with less fat, but no less crunchy! Onion rings dip in batter, roll in a breading of baked potato chips and put in the oven. Serve immediately as a snack to beer, soups or as a part of sandwiches.   • 0.5 tbsp. and 2 tbsp. l flour
  • 0.5 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp ground black pepper

Recipe preparation:

  1. Preheat the oven to 220 ° C.
  2. Sprinkle a little baking sheet with olive oil. Potato chips put in the bowl of the food processor and grind for 20 seconds crumbly. Transfer to a shallow bowl and sprinkle with cayenne pepper. In another bowl, mix yogurt, 2 tbsp. l flour, salt and pepper. Cut the onions into 1.5 cm wide rings and separate them, leaving only large ones. It should be about 12-14 rings.
  3. Pour the remaining flour into a sealed ziplock bag, add onion rings and shake well so that they fall into flour. Dip the onion rings one at a time into the liquid mixture, then roll in chips and lay on a baking sheet.
  4. Sprinkle evenly with rapeseed oil and bake for 20 minutes or until crisp. Salt the finished rings and immediately serve.
