Brie cheese with fig compote, baked in a puff test

An interesting cheese appetizer served in its original form. Cheese Circle brie is covered with a compote of figs, wrapped in dough for pie and baked in the oven. Compote will be easy to cook from dried figs, cooked with spices and orange zest in balsamic vinegar. When you cut a delicious bundle of golden dough, a harmonious taste of steam will be waiting for you inside cream cheese and sticky sweet-spicy figs. Difficulty: easy Servings: 6 – 8 In the recipes volumetric containers are used in volume: 1 cup (tbsp.) – 240 ml. 3/4 cups (st.) – 180 ml. 1/2 cup (tbsp.) – 120 ml. 1/3 cup (Art.) – 80 ml. 1/4 cup (st.) – 60 ml. 1 tablespoon (tbsp) – 15 ml. 1 teaspoon (tsp) – 5 ml.

Ingredients for the recipe:

  • 1 round brie cheese weighing 200-220 gr.
  • 0.5 tbsp. dried figs with clipped tips, chopped
  • 2 wide strips of orange zest (peeled by a peeler)
  • 2 sprigs of thyme
  • 3 tbsp. l brandy
  • 2 tbsp. l Sahara
  • 2 tbsp. l balsamic vinegar
  • 1 piece of chilled pie dough (half the package weight 400 gr.)
  • Flour for sprinkling
  • 1 large egg, slightly beaten

Recipe preparation:

  1. In a small saucepan, mix the figs, zest of orange, thyme, brandy, sugar, vinegar, a little ground black pepper and 1/4 tbsp. water. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer until the liquid will not thicken and the figs will not become soft, 15-20 minutes. Transfer to a small bowl, remove the zest and thyme and cool, about 20 minutes. Transfer the mixture to a food processor and chop almost uniform consistency.
  2. Preheat the oven to 190 °. Put the dough on lightly sprinkled flour work surface. Roll out the outer 5 cm of the dough so that to make the edge a little thinner than the rest of the dough. Put cheese in the center of the dough, and lay the figs on top. Trim about 2.5 see from the outer edge of the dough. Raise the dough over the cheese, folding and pleating it to completely cover the cheese. Pinch the dough on top and seal.
  3. Transfer wrapped cheese onto a baked tray parchment. Grease the dough with a beaten egg and bake until golden crusts, 30-35 minutes. Cool for 10 minutes, then shift on a cutting board, and chop. Serve the cheese warm or room temperature.
